☀️ Round Up: Summer Camps 2018

Posted on Sunday, September 30th, 2018

It’s been a busy Summer, with many of our young people attending various camps across the country. Here’s a round up of what happened while school was out for summer!

2nd Southampton

This year, the scout troop made their way to Chelwood near Bath for a week of activities including caving, cycling around the canels and kayaking on the river Avon – Including operating the locks

9th Scouthampton

Rather than rely on adults to get them to camp. The 9th Scouts made their own way from Southampton to Brownsea Island (Home of the first scout camp). Find out more about their adventure below:

13th Southampton Sea Scouts

The 13th Group held their Summer camp locally at our district camp site in the New Forest. There was still plenty of water, even on dry land.

14th Southampton (Wednesday Troop)

These scouts attened Jurassic International Jamboree in Purbeck. A week long camp with the chance to meet other scouts from over the world.

14th Southampton (Friday Troop)

A very adventerous week for this troop. They made it all the way to the Peak District and climbed some very impressive rock faces.

29th Immaculata Southampton

The Scouts spent their summer camp and enjoyed a swim at the pyramids, took part in archery, tunneling, climbing at Rock Up and rafting. Along with a few visits out and taking on an assault course. The usual Scouting skills and hiking were also included. Here’s a few photos for you…

SSAGO (Student Scouts and Guides)

The Southampton Student Scout and Guide Organisation take to the Lake District for their week-long summer camp!

Explorers (Apollo, Enterprise, Endeavour and Nemesis Units)

Our 4 Explorer units spent 5 days camping out at Walhampton School in the New Forest. Durin their stay they took a trip to the Isle of White for some coasteering, visited Lymington Water Park and powerboated to the Needles.

Watch: Cubs Athletics Evening 2018

Posted on Sunday, September 9th, 2018

Well done to all those Cubs who attended the Athletics evening. Everyone tried their best and every single cub earnt a badge. That’s amazing!

Thank you to the Leaders and Young Leaders for their help, and to the 13th who ran a refreshments stall to raise money for our District Charity – PICU.

🎬 Watch: I’m A Cub… Get Me Out Of Here!

Posted on Friday, June 22nd, 2018

This is the Cubs 6ers Camp for 2018 at Wilverley Camp Site.

Our theme was: I’m a Cub get Me Out of Here.

We had a fun camping weekend with Friday night’s wide game being challenges to earn Dingo Dollars to buy doughnuts from Kiosk Chil’s Outback Shack.

Saturday Competition Day was full of Jungle themed challenging activities, run by the fantastically talented Pack Leaders.
(Unfortunately, apologies to those whos base footage has not appeared on this video the Go Pro had a glitch)
Sunday was the Cub Cyclone slip and slide, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the Cubs and Leaders, especially Ollie who got Jungle slimmed!

Thank You to all for a fabulous weekend.
Sarah Granger (Chil)
ADC Cubs.

Cubs Archery Competition

Posted on Wednesday, May 30th, 2018

On Saturday 19th of May, Cubs attended the District Archery Competition at the 22nd HQ.
It was a gloriously hot day and the Cubs enjoyed shooting arrows and finishing the day off with a cool Ice lolly.
Well done to everyone who took part and to the leaders for their support.
A special thank you to Shaun and Ant for a great event.

Sarah
ADC Cubs.

Well Done to Liam and Lewis

Posted on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018

Congratulations to Liam and Lewis on their involvement this year representing Southampton City in “Roverang”
Roverang is a musical and dance extravaganza put on by over 130 members of the Scout and Guide associations.
It was a great night of singing and dancing at the Nuffield Theatre in April this year.
Lots of hard work and commitment and a great show

DC’s Diary: Cubs Carol Service

Posted on Wednesday, December 6th, 2017

Well done to Sarah Granger (ADC Cubs) and Brian Purchase (District Chaplain) for a really great Cubs Carol Service.

Loads of Cubs, Leaders and Parents at St James’ Methodist church tonight to sing Carols and give gifts for SCRATCH charity.

The Cubs were really enjoying their party with Active Support helping out with the Cubs teams and refreshments.

Also, Well done, to Margaret Grafton on receiving a presentation of flowers from a Cub in recognition of 60 years Service

Cenotaph and Poppies

Posted on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017

Thank you to those of you who joined the parade at the Cenotaph on Sunday morning, especially as it was so cold and breezy. We were a small group but I know our presence was appreciated by the public by the amount of applause we received in the march past.

A special mention for the four Beaver Scouts who joined us. They were so well behaved, and smart and even though they were cold, they did not show it. Thanks also to the Leader and two Scouts from the 9th who laid the wreath on behalf of the Scouts. Well done.

Thank you also everyone who sold poppies in Waitrose on behalf of the British Legion. Members of Active Support, The District Team and the 7th Cubs and the 13th Group members sold poppies Monday to Saturday from 9 am. to 7 pm. each day.

I will circulate the amount collected when British Legion tells me.

Thank you everyone who supported these two important events.
