☀️ Round Up: Summer Camps 2018
Posted on Sunday, September 30th, 2018
It’s been a busy Summer, with many of our young people attending various camps across the country. Here’s a round up of what happened while school was out for summer!
2nd Southampton
This year, the scout troop made their way to Chelwood near Bath for a week of activities including caving, cycling around the canels and kayaking on the river Avon – Including operating the locks
9th Scouthampton
Rather than rely on adults to get them to camp. The 9th Scouts made their own way from Southampton to Brownsea Island (Home of the first scout camp). Find out more about their adventure below:
13th Southampton Sea Scouts
The 13th Group held their Summer camp locally at our district camp site in the New Forest. There was still plenty of water, even on dry land.
14th Southampton (Wednesday Troop)
These scouts attened Jurassic International Jamboree in Purbeck. A week long camp with the chance to meet other scouts from over the world.
14th Southampton (Friday Troop)
A very adventerous week for this troop. They made it all the way to the Peak District and climbed some very impressive rock faces.
29th Immaculata Southampton
The Scouts spent their summer camp and enjoyed a swim at the pyramids, took part in archery, tunneling, climbing at Rock Up and rafting. Along with a few visits out and taking on an assault course. The usual Scouting skills and hiking were also included. Here’s a few photos for you…
SSAGO (Student Scouts and Guides)
The Southampton Student Scout and Guide Organisation take to the Lake District for their week-long summer camp!
Explorers (Apollo, Enterprise, Endeavour and Nemesis Units)
Our 4 Explorer units spent 5 days camping out at Walhampton School in the New Forest. Durin their stay they took a trip to the Isle of White for some coasteering, visited Lymington Water Park and powerboated to the Needles.

Scouts Paint-balling Day
Posted on Monday, February 5th, 2018
Last weekend, over 40 Scouts and leaders spent the day blasting paint-balls at each other at Delta-Force in Romsey. Young people from the 2nd, 7th, 13th, 14th and 29th took part in 12 team games ranging from defending castles, protecting the president in an apocalyptic London and surviving a zombie invasion.
It was a great day of working together, meeting other people from local groups and having the opportunity to shoot paint at each other for fun. We were blessed with a sunny and dry day, although it was pretty chilly.
Well done to everyone who took part. We had some wonderful feedback from the organisers to say that the Scouts were all brilliantly behaved and got really stuck in with the games. Follow the link below to see some of the photos we took on the day.

Watch: Southampton scouts sleep on a cliff edge!
Posted on Saturday, October 28th, 2017
To me, scouts is about new experiences, developing skills and growing comfort zones.
This half term, 3x 12yr old scouts & I quite literally slept on the side of a cliff – I think that’s a tick in each box.
Truly fantastic and surreal experience. Massive thanks to James and his friends who lent us the portaledges, to the parents who trusted me, Anne for camping up top, and the scouts for being utterly amazing. It was a humbling experience.

Summit 2017
Posted on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017
You’ve got to be tough to get through a weekend in Snowdonia! Scouts, Explorers and Network members have just returned from an adventurous trip reaching the peaks of North Wales. Saturday’s mist, rain and wind didn’t stop our teams reaching the summits of Snowdon and Tryfan. By Sunday the weather eased, rewarding us with some stunning views. Well done to everyone who attended, it’s a big achievement.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Summer!!!! (followed by Christmas).
The long days, sunshine and school holidays can only mean one thing… Summer Camps!

14th Highfield Friday Scouts
Clearly Wales is the place to be for adventure! 14th Friday Scouts travelled all the way up to Snowdonia for their 9 day camp which included herding sheep out of our camping field, climbing & scrambling up mountains & down valleys, exploring underground slate mines by boat-ride, exploring tree-tops via many many zip-wires, cycling on “single-tracks” in hilly forests, bouncing in underground trampolines and surfing in a man-made lake. This video shows it all!
This video shows some of the best bits!
Friday Scouts 9-Day Summer Camp in 90 seconds – it doesn't really do it justice, but during the week, we:* herded sheep out of our camping field* climbed & scrambled up mountains & down valleys* explored underground slate mines by boat-ride, climbing, abseiling, via-ferrata and zip-wire* explored tree-tops via many many zip-wires* climbed & bouldered on rocks* cycled on "single-tracks" in hilly forests* bounced in underground trampolines* surfed in a man-made lakeThe lovely Welsh weather sadly cancelled a few of our plans (biggest zip-wire in Europe, coasteering, hammocking expedition & sea-kayaking) – but we all had a great time!Roll on the next camp!

The 29th Scouts were on summer camp in Christchurch. 🙂 During the week they visited Brownsea Island, the birthplace of Scouting, and renewed their promises at the site of the first Scout camp that Baden-Powell ran. Here they are at the flagpole!

Video: Emlyn Camp Diary
Posted on Monday, June 5th, 2017
For those who don’t know… Emlyn is a weekend competition camp held every year where Scouts get the opportunity to ‘camp without adults’ in the sense that they set up their site, cook, eat and complete challenges without any help from the leaders.
14th Wednesday Troop made this video of their time at Emlyn Camp last weekend…
