Help needed at Wilverley
Posted on Monday, September 24th, 2018
The cottage at our District Camp Site needs to be fully re-decorated. We have reserved the weekend of 16th-18th November to do this. The maintenance team are looking for volunteers with painting skills to help complete this job in one weekend. If you would like to come along for all or part of the weekend, please contact me by email firstname.lastname@example.org Please use email so that it is easier for me to keep in touch with everyone before the weekend. Due to the nature of the work, this will be for adults only. There may be bookings at the same time to use the Activity Centre building and the camping fields on that weekend. It will be possible to sleep over in the cottage, as long as you don’t mind the smell of paint!
It is six years since I conducted a review of the site to enable the District to make important financial decisions about improving it, ahead of committing to a new 25 year lease with the Forestry Commission. The overwhelming response then, was to keep it for use by our whole district, and also by other youth organisations, thereby providing a dividend back to district each year.
If you have the time to give regularly on a Tuesday or Friday morning and want to help with routine maintenance, please let me know and I will happily pass this on to the team.
New volunteers are needed and are essential to support the team who freely give their time to maintain the site each week. In doing so, they ensure a financial return to the district which is about 50% of our annual income.
Yours in Scouting,
